Today marks a special Mortal Kombat 11 event in Los Angeles where fans all over the world got the chance to check out new gameplay and announcements. One of them includes Ronda Rousey as the voice of Sonya Blade. Other announcements include new playable fighter Geras and the return of Skarlet and Baraka. Then there’s Kronika, the first female boss in the history of Mortal Kombat. And like NetherRealm’s previous game, Injustice 2, we can see the technology carrying over including better facial animation and customizable options for outfits.
Check out the Sonya Blade gameplay trailer featuring her special abilities and Ronda’s thoughts on becoming Sonya.
“I’ve been a lifelong Mortal Kombat fan, and Sonya Blade was the first kick-ass, female video game character that I related to,” said Ronda Rousey. “Now I get to voice her in Mortal Kombat 11. It’s a dream come true to be a part of the Mortal Kombat franchise that I grew up playing.”
Check out the first gameplay reveal trailer featuring music from Dimitri Vegas called “You’re Next.” Here we get to see Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Baraka, and Skarlet showing off their deadly moves.
Below is the video for the Story Prologue where we get to see the introduction of Kronika, the Keeper of Time and creator of existence. It starts off with an angry Raiden killing Shinnok, changing the course of history. The god of thunder has tried to protect the Earthrealm, but there’s only so much one can do, and he joins the dark side in order to best protect our world.
Geras has been introduced as a new fighter, and he’s a loyal servant of Kronika. He has the ability to mess with time, and you’ll get to see that in the Geras Reveal Trailer below.
And if that’s not enough, there’s a Fatalities Trailer featuring moves from Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Raiden, Scorpion, Skarlet, and Baraka.
Other announcements include Mortal Kombat 11-inspired Under Armour Anatomix Spawn basketball shoes and the Mortal Kombat 11 Kollector’s Edition including main game, Kombat Pack, Scorpion mask bust, exclusive steel case, commemorative magnet coin and authenticity plate.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be available on April 23, 2019, for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. You can get Shao Kahn as a playable character and access to the March 28 beta if you pre-0rder the game.
