The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 7 Recap

The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 7 Recap

After the time jump, The Walking Dead has settled into its post-Rick world with the communities divided. In last week’s episode, Michonne displayed her newfound isolationist tendencies when she antagonized Magna and her group of survivors. Even Michonne’s step-daughter, Judith Grimes, couldn’t completely win her over about the new arrivals. However, Michonne was moved enough to accompany them to Hilltop and ask for them to be accepted there. Meanwhile, Rosita and Eugene came across an unusually aggressive walker herd. Much to their shock, they heard the sound of whispering as the herd pursued them. In The Walking Dead season 9 episode 7, the full impact of the Whisperers had yet to fully unfold. But we did catch up with some old friends.

Whispers in the Dark

A dazed and injured Rosita made her way through the woods. It wasn’t clear if the whispers she heard were from the herd or hallucinations. However, she was alone and barely able to move before she finally passed out from exhaustion.

The New Boss

Jesus won the election at Hilltop to remain Maggie’s successor, even though he didn’t really want the job. He also mentioned that Maggie had left with her son, and she asked him to lead the community. Tara didn’t appreciate the way that Jesus delegated his duties to her, but he felt stiffed by his new responsibilities. Jesus snuck out of Hilltop for some horse play with Aaron, whom he has secretly been training. Aaron and Jesus also found Rosita, after she fired a flare in the sky. Rosita explained what happened to her, and mentioned that she had Eugene hide in a barn. But with an advancing herd, Jesus and Arron decided to get Rosita to safety before searching for Eugene.

Stradivarius

Michonne’s adversarial relationship with Magna’s group continued when she wouldn’t let them reclaim their weapons. They were also put out when Michonne said she wouldn’t accompany them all the way to Hilltop. After finding their old camp overrun, the survivors reclaimed some of their possessions. Late at night, Michonne caught Luke riffling through a bag and assumed he was stealing a weapon. It turned out to be a priceless Stradivarius violin, which Michonne thoughtlessly destroyed out of paranoia.

While Luke was upset, he still shared his belief that it was humanity’s culture that allowed them to overcome their early beginnings. When the group was surrounded by a herd, Michonne was finally forced to trust them with their weapons to get by. She even put down a walker that had once been their friend. But before they arrived at Hilltop, Michonne learned that Maggie was gone and that Rosita was injured.

Campfire Tales

Carol and Henry spent some time at Camp Daryl, which was surrounded by walker traps. Daryl was happy to see his old friend, and he even let Carol cut his hair. However, Daryl was less receptive to Carol’s idea about him staying with Henry at Hilltop. Daryl also had the same X scar on his back that Michonne had in the previous episode. Henry and Daryl bonded when they saved the dog from advancing walkers, while Carol silently observed them. Eventually, they arrived at Hilltop as the search for Eugene began. Henry reluctantly remained behind, while Daryl and his dog left with the search party.
