Library of the Dead trilogy headed for the small screen

The trilogy of thrillers known as Library of the Dead are headed for a TV adaptation, according to Variety. The books, written by author Glen Cooper, have been obtained by Lucisano Media Group and Pascal Breton’s Paris-based Federation Entertainment to co-develop and co-produce a high-end TV series based on the material.

The trilogy follows Will Piper, a New York-based FBI agent and a library situated under an ancient monastery that has scores of deadly secrets concealed. Library of the Dead have been translated into 31 languages and sold over 6 million copies worldwide, and are particularly popular in Italy.

With a qualified partner like Federation Entertainment we will be able to maximize the value of the TV adaptation of a series of novels that have great artistic and commercial potential…and have riveted millions of readers around the world,” said Paola Lucisano, of the Lucisano Media Group, one of Italy’s oldest producers of genre content.

Federation Entertainment’s Pascal Breton confirmed the deal, which is one of many in the works with Lucisano Media Group, though this is the “first one that is completely signed and confirmed.” Breton also said that two prominent Italian screenwriters have been confirmed to adapt the project, though no names were mentioned.

Federation Entertainment, a leading player in international drama and kids’ entertainment and the company behind Netflix’s first French original series, Marseille, has been developing close ties with Italy lately. The Lucisano Group was founded in 1958 by Fulvio Lucisano, and has produced a vast number of genre movies over the decades, ranging from Planet of the Vampires to The Young Toscanini.
