Daredevil Season 3 Episode 7 Recap

Daredevil season 3 episode seven opens in the aftermath of the attack on the Bulletin in the previous episode. From his hidden control room accessed through his closet, Fisk is able to monitor the FBI in the hotel, the news, and more. It is from here that he orders Felix to have Dex continue to lay low and Fisk continues to attempt to trap Matt in order to deliver him to the FBI.

“That’s What You Do, Karen”

Daredevil Season 3 Episode 7

Karen is interrogated by Ray regarding the attack at the Bulletin. He points out that Daredevil said he’s seen Karen before. Karen states that isn’t the real Daredevil. Daredevil isn’t how a man looks in the suit, but the actions he takes. At the FBI office, Karen is rocked by the cell phones of all the victims, with messages and phone calls that go unanswered.

Karen heads to the hospital, where she questions whether or not going after Fisk was worth it. Ellison tells her that’s their job and that the paper will still be published today, tomorrow, and the day after that. Ellison wants to start connecting Daredevil to Fisk, but Karen again says that wasn’t the Daredevil. Ellison asks Karen if she knows who Daredevil is. When she won’t answer, Ellison tells her she’s fired.

Karen considers returning home to Vermont. She pulls up a map on her phone, then calls her father to see if she can stay for a while. He tells Karen not to come home. Karen cries that she tried to do the right thing but it got screwed up and people got hurt. Her father tells Karen that’s what she does.

“Not Yet”

Daredevil Season 3 Episode 7

Foggy returns home to Marci, finally able to process what he just experienced. Foggy feels like he has too much left undone to die. Foggy proposes to Marci, who says that she wants Foggy to propose again when it comes from his heart, not from trauma. While picking up some of Marci’s scattered legal papers, Foggy begins to piece together what he believes Fisk’s is up to.

“I’ll Be More Careful About Giving Advice to the Devil”

Daredevil Season 3 Episode 7

Matt is haunted again by the specter of Fisk, who tells Matt that he’s not strong enough to stop the Daredevil impostor nor smart enough to stop Fisk. Though Sister Maggie swore to be more careful offering Matt advice, Matt follower Maggie’s thought about following up with Melvin, the guy who made the suit.

Melvin takes Matt to his new workshop, where a second suit is waiting. Melvin locks Matt in with the suit for the FBI to catch him, but Matt escapes. Matt gets away while the FBI arrests Melvin. Matt warns Betsy, Melvin’s parole officer and lover, to leave town before Fisk kills her. She tells Matt that even though he thinks himself a hero, that Matt and Fisk are cut from the same cloth. Both use the people around them to get what they want.

“The Real One”

Daredevil Season 3 Episode 7

Ray is concerned that Fisk truly is playing the FBI, but with Jasper dead, there is no one to prove it. Sending the possibility up the chain of command means that everyone arrested with Fisk’s information would go free. Ray asks his boss for two days to get the facts together so they can move while making as little more of a mess as possible for the agency.

Ray returns home to a surprise party for his promotion. In private, Ray’s wife scolds him for lying to her about his job. Ray’s lies and preoccupation with the assignment are tearing them apart. Going down to the basement for more drinks, Ray is ambushed by Matt, who wants to help Ray put Fisk back behind bars. Matt passes along what Melvin was able to tell him about the fake Daredevil. It was someone within the FBI.
