Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

In the previous episode of Amazon’s Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Jim and Jack recovered Hanin, and Cathy discovered an Ebola containment breach. Jack Ryan season 1 episode 7 began with Jack’s return to T-FAD.

“The Enemy Killed Your Mother”

Not knowing Yazid’s fate, Suleiman told Samir that his sisters were coming home, but “the enemy” had killed Hanin. Suleiman seemed to be radicalizing his son. Then, Suleiman gave the hostages the supplies they asked for like aspirin and vitamins. Dr. Nadler gave aspirin to Al Radwan. One of the other hostages tried to stop him, but Nadler insisted they were doctors first.

More Games

At a training facility, Matice was planning an op to infiltrate Suleiman’s compound. Jack brought Hanin to provide some details like which side of the bed he slept on and what weapons he had by the bed and where.

Hanin and her daughters were staying at a safehouse in the U.S. The officer in charge got Sara a handheld gaming console and a video game. Sara used it to chat with Samir. She told him that they had flown to the US on a military plane. While tucking in Samir, Suleiman saw the messages from Sara.

Moderate Confidence

At a briefing, Singer told Jack and Jim that the location Hanin provided checked out, but they still needed confirmation. Once they got it, they had also discovered the hostages. Dr. Nadler was the president’s friend; they served together in Vietnam. Because of this, instead of an airstrike, they would go for a ground assault to recover the hostages. Jack advocated to include Samir as one of the hostages to be recovered.

When Kilo team infiltrated the compound, they found no one there but the hostages. Matice found a tunnel under the compound. Instead of following on foot, their priority was the hostages. They brought them back to the U.S. along with intelligence.

“Is It Possible?”

Military personnel picked up Cathy to be questioned about EVD-27. Jack and Jim attended the briefing, where Cathy was introduced to them as CIA officers. Jim showed her a picture of Suleiman and Ali in Azjerbaijan. They had come from Liberia with an Ebola-infected corpse. When asked if Ebola could be weaponized, Cathy explained that oxygen kills the virus and Ebola is spread through bodily fluids. It would not be weaponized through the air, but it was still possible to weaponize it.

Suleiman’s men went into a shipping container and put on hazmat suits. They uncovered eight vials of blue powder hidden among bottles of oil. However, one was broken and spilling the powder. They decided to leave it and take the rest with them.

Delivery System

Cathy was upset with Jack for lying to her about his job. He explained it was what he was trained to say. Jack took her to dinner to work things out with her. During dinner, Jim called him about intelligence gathered at Suleiman’s compound. An article about the president and Dr. Nadler had been shredded and pieced back together. Suleiman had known that Dr. Nadler was friends with the president and would have prioritized recovering him. Jack watched the TV at the restaurant where Dr. Nadler stood next to the president appearing ill. He realized the hostages were the delivery system for EVD-27.
