Noblechairs HERO review: New style, same class

Noblechairs have been disrupting the gaming chair market for some time now. You may have seen ads on Facebook, YouTube videos, and gaming events featuring their chairs. They are known for creating timeless, well crafted chairs for gaming. My first experience was with their EPIC series chair. Then I reviewed the ICON series, which is one of my favorites. Today, I had the pleasure to review the HERO series. Let’s take a closer look.

Setup

It’s a fairly simple setup process and should take around 8-12 min. The backrest, armrests, and the tilt mechanism are the only pieces the need to be screwed into place. The bracket cover for the backrest is the last step and was the most difficult part of setup. This has been the case for all the chairs I’ve reviewed for Noblechairs. However, it’s just one screw on each side, and it required a lot of force and attempts to prevent cross threading before I was able to finish setup. I do wish the backrest slid on like the Respawn RSP-400, but it’s not the end of the world. The gas lift and wheels just pop in. It is recommended to have two people to assemble.

Build & Quality

One thing you will not find with any Noblechair is a lack of quality. The chairs look and feel premium. Starting with the tilt mechanism, it is sturdy, to say the least. If you lean back hard enough in any chair, it will fall over, but the butterfly style they used helps keep the center of gravity low and prevents easy spillovers. The bearings are well oiled and spin effortlessly. As expected, the wheels roll smoothly. The steel frame the chair sits on it one solid piece, unlike some other chairs I’ve seen that weld them together. Just another reason the HERO series feels sturdy.

Looking at the upholstery, you’ll see their signature stitch work and design. Its design is almost in an infusion of the ICON and EPIC series. There are two material options to choose from, top grain or faux leather. There is also a nice suede to add elegance and comfort. It runs down the side of the backrest, right about where arms are frequently moving. There are air channels and the leather is vented to prevent people from overheating their buns. The stitching is clean and tight. I have had no issues with fraying. The quality of materials used and the manufacturing ensure that this chair will last for years to come.

The HERO series introduces a new adjustable lumbar support dial. It sits on the right side of the backrest and is easy to reach. Scrolling the dial will provide some adjustment, but it not a major one. It provides about an inch of adjustment. The HERO series also comes with a lumbar and headrest pillow for those that like additional comfort. Something else to note is that the HERO series is a bit larger than the ICON and EPIC series. This should help those that are in the big & tall category.

The cushions are cold foam. This also helps reduce heat from building up and tends to be one of the better options for comfort for gaming chairs. As for firmness, it’s slightly more firm then what I like. I do wish the cushions were more like the ICON series, which I believe is the most comfortable chair in terms of cushion firmness. I never found myself with a numb bum though, and the HERO series is near perfect in terms of comfort.

The branding is well done. It’s very subtle but aesthetically pleasing. The Noblechairs logo is imprinted on the headrest and on a small branded plaque at the top of the backrest. The HERO series is a great example of what it means to get more for a bit more. Sure you can get another chair for cheaper, but the durability and quality are worth it for something you use for hours every day.

Final Reaction

The HERO series is a wonderful addition to the Noblechairs family. It takes the negative connotation out of the word gamer. The HERO series was premeditatively and expertly crafted as the optimal chair for gaming. It starts at $439.99, but will last 3 times the lifespan of most other chairs on the market. I can absolutely recommend the HERO series to anyone that spends most of their time in a chair.

Rating: 4.5/5 Atoms
