NVIDIA’s Ansel shines in Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Lara Croft is back in the third iteration of the the Tomb Raider franchise, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This time around Lara’s adventures takes her through the jungles of Latin America. The story continues with her battles against Trinity and their pursuit of power. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara is trying to stop Trinity from retrieving a particular relic that has the ability to reshape the world as we know it.

NVIDIA knows a thing or two about reshaping worlds, as their groundbreaking products and graphics cards speak for themselves. At E3 this year they invited us to check out their new bag of tricks, and what better to experience it than with the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider. They had the game running on the GeForce 1080Ti graphics card, and it looked stunning to say the least. But surprisingly, this isn’t what they wanted to show off.

NVIDIA Ansel

Ever had an in-game moment where you felt it would make for an amazing photo? Say hello to NVIDIA Ansel, a brand-new way to capture hi-res, in-game photos. It’s not just your standard pictures that can be taken as well, as you have the ability to do 360-degree, HDR, super-resolution, and even stereo photographs (3D). It even comes with its own set of tools, filters (stackable), and other options, which is comparable to using Lightroom for photography.

Now I’m pretty sure once you have a library full of amazing photos, you’ll want to share them with the world. Well NVIDIA has you covered on this. They’ve set up a photo-sharing site for Ansel called Shot with GeForce. Not only can you share to that site, but also social media, Imgur, and even Google photos.

I think this is a great incorporation that NVIDIA has done, and I don’t just say that because I’m a photography fan. There’s been more than plenty of times where I’ve stopped in-game to observe the beauty of the world around me. With Ansel, it gives me a chance to really embrace the hard work developers put into their games, as well as creating amazing art pieces with it.
