have During the Xbox Media Briefing during E3 2018, a new Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer dropped. With Tangled being shown previously, it was only a matter of time for the world of Frozen to make an appearance… and here it is. In addition, we also get a taste of Utada Hikaru’s song for the game.
The trailer has Sora, Goofy and Donald meeting Elsa, Olaf, Anna and Kristoff from Disney’s Frozen. Throughout the trailer, gameplay elements are shown including Sora using ice attacks, ice skating, sliding in a sled and fighting against Marshmallow, the snow monster. Other Disney worlds shown include Wreck-It Ralph and Tangled. And for those wanting to fly, the Gummi Ship is back.
Utada Hikaru’s “Simple and Clean” in Kingdom Hearts and “Sanctuary” in Kingdom Hearts II are really fitting, but the new song feels out of place in the action-packed trailer. Perhaps the song will mesh perfectly well in the final game with whatever prologue it will be a part of.
Also, I want to add how Square Enix has done an amazing job in capturing the look of the Disney characters. For example, check out the comparison images below of Rapunzel in Kingdom Hearts III (left) and in Tangled (right). I have to give props to the developers for pulling this off with the game’s engine compared to a pre-rendered movie scene with an estimated $260 million production budget.
