If someone told me a few months ago that there was an idea for an anime about Batman in feudal Japan, I’d think they were crazy…crazy like a fox! To be honest, it sounds like one of the coolest concepts ever. Let us introduce you to Batman Ninja. In the trailer we see the Dark Knight transported from what appears to be a modern-day setting, back to the time of samurai in feudal Japan. Like any classic Batman story, he must battle against his maniacal nemesis, the Joker.
Joining in the fray will be a host of DC characters from the Batman universe that include: Nightwing, Robin, Red Hood, Red Robin, Alfred, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Penguin, Clayface, Gorilla Grodd, Deathstroke, and Two-Face.
Check out the trailer for yourself below.
Jumpei Mizusaki, who is known best for his work on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, is directing this animated feature. Alongside him will be Takashi Okazaki, whom is the creator of the acclaimed Afro Samurai series. He’ll be behind all of the character designs, which look phenomenal from what we can see in the trailer. The screenplay is written by Kazuki Nakashima, the same lead writer from the anime series Kill la Kill.
Batman Ninja will release early in 2018.
