BlizzCon 2017: New expansion for World of Warcraft

world of warcraft battle for azeroth

Wow! After some years of clamoring for this feature, a video of Chromie (the time-traveling Bronze Dragon) showcases the hint for bringing the experience back to Vanilla. Now, as they have announced, they will not be giving players the Launch experience for World of Warcraft (because honestly, that was pretty rough), but they will bring back the sequence of material prior to Cataclysm where the original contents were ultimately changed. It’s still a work in progress, but they’ll keep us updated on their progress in making this happen.

After so many years, we have finally moved on from the Burning Legion. With Sargeras finished, the focus has run back to Azeroth and now it is time to take care of things back home. So for the upcoming expansion, as many in the community have suspected, we are brought to the pirate isles of Kul Tiras. But surprisingly, we are also given the region of Zandalar for Horde. That’s right, Horde and Alliance have their own respective faction continents exclusive to this expansion!

The following video is narrated by Jaina Proudmoore, who has experienced a lot of stuff since Vanilla WoW, leading to her distrust of the Horde and departed early during the Legion expansion. Many rumors suspected that she might be the new villain, but it is too soon to tell.

Immediately afterward, they showcased the intro cinematic for Battle for Azeroth. Pitting the forces of the Alliance besieging the Horde defenses, led by Sylvanas, at Lordaeron. Now, THIS is the cinematic many hoped to see of the faction conflict for a long time. Anduin, the new King of Stormwind, is coming to his own as a young champion of the Alliance. A lot is happening, it’s pretty intense.

So what are we looking at for this expansion?
– Level cap raised to 120
– New sub-races that are based on previously established ones. Like Highmountain Tauren (originally seen in Wrath of the Lich King), Nightborne Elves (encountered across Legion), Void Elves (as hinted in Legion’s Argus storyline), Lightforged Draenei (seen in the Legion’s Argus storyline)
– New continent: Kul-Tiras (Alliance), Zandalar (Horde)
– Explore unknown islands
– And major conflict zones for both factions!

There is no release date for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth yet. But it’s safe to assume it will be available in spring of 2018… or until it’s ready, as is the Blizzard motto. For more information, check out their website at http://ift.tt/2hBBHYL.
