CS tours Pooh Corner and the REAL Hundred Acre Wood
With Goodbye Christopher Robin (the biopic of Winnie the Pooh creator A. A. Milne) set to open this Friday, October 13, Fox Searchlight Pictures invited ComingSoon.net to take a tour of the real Hundred Acre Wood that inspired the Winnie the Pooh books. Located in East Sussex, England, Ashdown Forest is a lush area containing the real Pooh Bridge where people play Poohsticks, as well as many houses for Eeyore built out of sticks. We were led by Ann Thwaite, the writer of the biography “A. A. Milne,” which the film is loosely based on. Starring Domhnall Gleeson as Milne and Margot Robbie as the author’s wife Daphne, Goodbye Christopher Robin offers a rare glimpse into the relationship between the beloved children’s author and his son, Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Along with his mother Daphne, and his nanny Olive, Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War. But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?
Directed by Simon Curtis (Woman in Gold, My Week with Marilyn) and written by Frank Cottrell Boyce (Millions) and Simon Vaughan (War and Peace), Goodbye Christopher Robin was produced by Damian Jones (Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, The Lady in the Van) and Steve Christian (Belle).
