SDCC 2017: Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency sneak peek from the new season

BBC America’s hit supernatural series Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency released a sneak peek preview from the upcoming second season on Saturday during its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con. In the clip, Dirk Gently, who is captured and kept prisoner by Project Blackwing, is ‘rescued’ by his friends – Todd and Farrah, donned in black and sunglasses. Unfortunately, Dirk realizes this has been all a dream after seeing hilarious animal masks on Todd and Farrah.

The cast and creatives of the show appeared on stage in Hall H on Saturday, including Samuel Barnett, Elijah Wood, Hannah Marks, Jade Eshete, Fiona Dourif, Mpho Kaoho, Alan Tudyk, Tyler Labine, creator/writer Max Landis, and showrunner Robert Cooper. The cast and creatives spoke about the new season and just how they handle the oddities of the work of author Douglas Adams.

Labine and Tudyk are newcomers to the second season. Labine plays Sherlock Hobbs, an  under-stimulated, but overly enthusiastic small town sheriff who is eager to help Dirk and crew solve a new mystery. Tudyk plays Mr. Priest, a ruthless, dangerous, and violent bounty hunter working for Project Blackwing, the organization keeping Dirk, Ken, and Bart.

Tudyk describes his character as ‘a bad guy.’

“He’s trouble and he’s tracking the anomalies,” said Tudyk. “He feels they need to be locked back up. They’re dangerous. They need to be locked up and I have a big gun, and I shoot it. That’s not a euphemism.”
