James Gunn hints at Guardians of the Galaxy 3 release date

In a lengthy, heartfelt Facebook message to fans, James Gunn has hinted on when we can expect the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 release date to be. You can read his full, awesome message below, but he ends it with: “I love you all, and I’ll continue being here with you over the next three years as we create Vol. 3.” This sounds like we are looking at a 2020 release for the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 release, which would fall in line with the almost three-year period between Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5, 2017).

Marvel Studios has scheduled three untitled movies for that year, including one on May 1, 2020, one on August 7, 2020, and another one November 6, 2020. Which of these do you think the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 release might grab? Let us know in the comments.

Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios‘ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Chris Sullivan as Taserface, and Kurt Russell as Ego the Living Planet.

Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Directed and written by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is produced by Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz, Nik Korda and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.
