Everyone seems to be talking about Netflix’s new hit show Stranger Things. The sci-fi series has become a runaway hit for the streaming service and has left many fans eager to find out any info about the next chapter. One of the key elements of the show that fans fell in love with was the retro soundtrack scored by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein of the band SURVIVE.
Dixion and Stein both made statements on an official press release revealing that the show creators were fans of their band before they began to work on the series.
“The directors were previously fans of S U R V I V E. They used a song from our first LP in a trailer they made to pitch their concept to Netflix. Once the show was picked up, they reached out to see if we were available to score the show.”
“We discussed having a classic tone and feel to the music for the show but being reserved enough that it wasn’t ’80s cheese, while offering a refreshing quality so that felt modern. This was one of the qualities that drew them to our music in the first place. Having a familiarity with classic synths worked, but with an overall forward thinking approach.”
This season’s soundtrack will be split up into two volumes. Volume One will be released this Friday digitally. Volume Two will become available the following Friday. The soundtrack will also be released in physical form September 16th and the 23rd.
