Seems like everyone in the world was waiting for Pokemon Go to be released in their country. One country will unfortunately not get it, Iran. Due to security concerns, it was banned by the High Council of Virtual Spaces. Despite the ban, Iranian social media has discussed users playing Pokemon Go.
Abolhasan Firouzabadi, the head of Iran’s supreme council of virtual space, told the ISNA news agency:
Any game that wants to operate nationwide in Iran needs to obtain permission from the ministry of culture and Islamic guidance, and the Pokémon Go app has not yet requested such a permission.
Pokemon Go has been a smash hit ever since being released. It has also been reported that Niantic has made $200 million since the release of the game. There are still some parts of Asia where it hasn’t been released yet, so that number will continue to rise.
