Earlier this year at E3, we learned that Microsoft had a few things up its sleeve when it came to the future of Xbox and how it viewed gaming. Two of those announcements were two new console models: the Xbox One S and the code named Project Scorpio. The One S was recently launched, but barely two months after the announcement we are learning that Project Scorpio already has games in development, over a year before it’s supposed release date.
Xbox Chief Phil Spencer replied to a fan on Twitter who asked if developers were already working on Project Scorpio with, “Yes, hardware, platform and games.”
Many thought that the announcement at E3 was a bit premature of Microsoft, seeing as the console won’t even be ready for at least a year. Microsoft has also been pretty quiet about what Project Scorpio will entail. We know that it will have 4k and HDR support, much like the Xbox One S, but will also add VR support as well. Microsoft promises this to be the “most powerful console ever built”. With the increase in power to its consoles, and the addition of Play Anywhere – which allows players to play select games on their PC and Xbox One – Microsoft is definitely showing how important gaming is to them.
