The filmmakers have mentioned that the Tomb Raider reboot movie will be inspired by the reboot video game from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics. With new set photos popping up in South Africa, we get a very good look at Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) as Lara. Check out Alicia as Lara Croft below and compare them to the image of Lara above from the video game. She’s got the bandages in the right areas and her tank top and pants are looking identical.
The film is directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave) from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Transformers: The Last Knight). Dominic West (Punisher: War Zone) joins Vikander as her father, Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands) as the ship captain who helps Lara find her father, and Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight) as the villain.
The Tomb Raider reboot game was released in 2013 and followed Lara Croft and her crew on a journey to find the lost island of Yamatai. She learns to become a fighter and survivor. Its sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, came out in 2015 and followed her on a journey to finish her father’s work.
