Attendees at Sony’s CinemaCon Presentation were treated to many sneak peeks including Blade Runner 2049, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Baby Driver. Out of all of them, Jumanji’s sneak peek was easily the favorite at the presentation.
Spoilers Ahead
We all know that the cast of Jumanji includes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. With the new trailer that premiered during the presentation, we now know the reason why the four are together in the world of Jumanji. The four characters that they play are actually teenagers who have all been sent to detention. To pass the time, they decide to play a Jumanji video game where they get to choose their avatar. This is a Jumanji movie after all, and we know that the game will come to life. The four are transported into that crazy world. The nerdy kid becomes Johnson, the geeky redheaded outsider becomes Gillan, the handsome jock becomes Hart, and the hot blonde becomes Black.
Black, Johnson, Gillan and Nick Jonas made an appearance in front of the CinemaCon crowd. Black and Gillan performed an impromptu song about Jumanji, and it got the crowd pumped. (Let’s hope that the made-up song will be included in the film somehow.) Black also talked about how horrible it was to work in Hawaii due to the mosquitoes. He even joked about how it was tougher than Leonardo DiCaprio’s bear scene in The Revenant.
In the scenes we saw, there was a great nod to Robin William’s character in the classic Jumanji film. Johnson shared his story of when he first met Williams, and it was a touching moment.
The film is definitely going to be fun with lots of adventure. If you ever wanted to see Johnson act fragile, Black as a pre-madonna, Gillan as kick-ass heroine, and Hart as a guy who’s stuck being a support character, then this movie should definitely be on your radar when it hits during the holiday season.
