Even though the multiverse was teased in Spider-Man: Far From Home, it was only a lie put together by Mysterio. But it looks like we’re finally going to be exploring that area in the MCU through Doctor Strange—which makes more sense than Spider-Man.
Scott Derrickson will be returning to helm the sequel. Derrickson came on stage and told the crowd that he would only do the sequel if it explored the sole reason why he loves the comics in the first place, the horror. Thus, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be Marvel’s first (PG-13) gothic horror film.
In addition, Kevin Feige told the crowd that Elizabeth Olsen would be in the film as well. But here’s the kicker, you’re going to have to watch Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision” because the events in the series will connect directly to Multiverse of Madness.
This direct series-to-film connection will be Marvel’s first. Yes, Jeph Loeb has said that the other Marvel television series are all connected with the MCU. Unfortunately, that was never the case. We did get a brief glimpse of this connection with James D’Arcy’s (“Agent Carter”) Jarvis in Avengers: Endgame but that’s it. The connections were a one-sided affair from the very beginning. So get your Disney+ accounts ready. Now, we can finally say that the series will truly have a symbiotic relationship to the feature films. We can finally say #ItsAllConnected. So get your Disney+ accounts ready.
What do you think?
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 7, 2021.
