Screen Junkies released their latest Honest Trailers breaking apart the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 as the “laugh-out-loud, but ultimately kind of forgettable sequel.” It was better than the other sequels they did list, except we all agree Captain America: The Winter Soldier was the best Marvel sequel ever.
Like all the Honest Trailers releases, this one made you think about each scene and do a double take, especially with the laughing. I did not realize how much force laughing there was in this film. Drax, you need to stop. I do agree they are making Drax into a ‘joke’ character. It’s also true that there are many wise-cracking moments that do take away from the seriousness of it. Cue Ego telling Star-Lord, he’s his father and then going to take a wiz.
Screen Junkies still does praise the film for bringing back what made the first movie such a success – all the special effects, hilarious dialogue, and emotional cues. So, there’s that.

The official synopsis of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2:
Brash space adventurer Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finds himself the quarry of relentless bounty hunters after he steals an orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain. To evade Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with four disparate misfits: gun-toting Rocket Raccoon, treelike-humanoid Groot, enigmatic Gamora, and vengeance-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when he discovers the orb’s true power and the cosmic threat it poses, Quill must rally his ragtag group to save the universe.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is out now on digital download via Vudu, iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay, Microsoft, FandangoNow, and Disney’s premier digital service, Disney Movies Anywhere. It will be available on Blu-ray in 4K Ultra HD format on August 22.
