E3 2017: ORIGIN PC’s new EVO15-S combines power with portability

ORIGIN PC provides pre-built desktops and laptops with a strong emphasis on power for gaming and other professional applications such as video and photo editing. Back at E3, I got a brief hands-on with their newest laptop, the EVO15-S, which aims to give a hardcore gaming experience wherever you are.

Coming in at only .73 inches thick and 4.3 pounds, the EVO15-S comes with the following specs:

• Windows 10 Creators Update
• 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ Processor
• Optional 15.6” 4K-UHD (3840×2160) or a FHD (1920*1080) HD IPS display
• Up to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 VR-Ready GPU
• Up to 1 x 2TB m.2 PCIe and 1 x 2.5” 4TB HDD/SSD
• Up to 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 2666MHz Memory
• Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260
• Built-in HD Webcam
• Sound BlasterX Pro-Gaming 360˚
• 2x USB Type C 3.1, 3x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, and a 6-in-1 Push-Push Card reader
• Backlit multi-color keyboard and optional custom paint

A big selling point, besides the impressive specs of the unit, is its portability, which is just as small (if not smaller) than the Acer I’m using to currently type. Believe me, the specs on my Acer are not even half as good as the EVO15-S. Thanks to the high-end GTX 1060 Graphics Card, the laptop can handle most current games at maximum settings and is VR-ready. You can even hook up the laptop via HDMI to a 4K TV or monitor to use the card to its fullest potential. It also comes with 16 GB of DDR4 memory that can be upgraded to 32 GB. All of this combined with the 7th-gen Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor will make for a smooth gaming and editing experience either at home or on the go. This will be handy to take with you on business trips and trade-shows such as E3, where editing gameplay videos is a must.

You can now purchase the EVO15-S on ORIGIN PC’s website.
