And the worst kept secret has finally been confirmed! Today, Bungie has officially announced Destiny 2 on the official Destiny Twitter page. Still no details were provided. We do however have a simple teaser image showing potentially The City, the last city on Earth, under attack. As it remains for Destiny, Bungie has already mapped out how it will end and indicated the story ended with the Black Garden Mission. We don’t know yet how Destiny will connect to Destiny 2 story-wise but will have to wait and see. Maybe we’ll see similar events to how World of Warcraft transitions the story from one expansion to the next.
We can speculate where Destiny 2 will take our Guardians. Granted we’ve already visited the Moon, Mars, Venus, and Mercury at times, other planets have been largely absent. With the exception of Saturn’s rings, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune, and Uranus have been absent as well as the many moons that orbit them. The main story tells about The Traveler providing humans the means to travel beyond Mars and help colonize the solar system before the collapse. So visiting the other planets with abandoned colonies would be interesting. E3 isn’t too far and could be the first sign of anything beyond just a name for Destiny 2.
