It’s happening, everyone! After making his debut in last year’s Captain America: Civil War, Chadwick Boseman is back as the king and protector of Wakanda in Black Panther.
Marvel announced that production has begun on the Ryan Coogler-directed film which stars Chadwick Boseman (Captain America: Civil War), Michael B. Jordan (Creed), Lupita Nyong’o (Queen of Katwe), Danai Gurira (AMC’s “The Walking Dead”), Martin Freeman (BBC’s “Sherlock”), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Angela Bassett (FX’s “American Horror Story”), Forest Whitaker (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes).
In addition, Letitia Wright (Urban Hymn), Winston Duke (ABC’s “Modern Family”), Florence Kasumba (NBC’s “Emerald City”), Sterling K. Brown (NBC’s “This is Us”), and John Kani (Captain America: Civil War) has joined the cast.
If that eclectic cast excites you then check out the synopsis for the film:
“Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.
As to what that conflict is we’re pretty sure it has something to do with the combination of Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) and MAYBE an Infinity Stone. However, that last guess is nothing more than wishful thinking on our part.
