Last week I had the opportunity to try out some really awesome games at Boston’s Festival of Indie Games. While there were a lot of great games, one of the games that really stuck out to me (and stuck onto me…haha you’ll get it later) was No Regerts.
Created by Samantha Romage and David Petrie of Poison Fish Games, No Regerts is a unique card game that centers around tattoos. This fast paced PVP-style card game can play with up to 6 of your closest friends for a wild time. The object of the game is to cover your body with the most awesomely bad ass tattoos possible.
Now before you break out the glue stick, you don’t actually stick these cards on your body, but instead you stack the cards (maximum of 3) in piles around your “body” card. Each of these piles are considered a limb, which is pretty cool. Certain cards may want you to add a tattoo to your leg, while others may want you to pretty up your arm, so it is important to know which pile is which.
Sounds easy enough right? Well not all of the cards in the deck are super sweet tats, some of them are considered “lame tattoos.” These cards have a negative status assigned to them and can be used to stick other players with a penalty. The game was designed for more of a social setting, however can get quite competitive by “closing players limbs,” which is No Regerts lingo for preventing any more tattoos to go on that players limb pile. By closing a player’s limbs with “lame tattoos,” you can keep your opponents from racking up major points. That way you can end the game with the most epic display of tattoos of everyone playing, and quite an epic display it will be. The artwork on each of the cards are simply amazing. Illustrated by Samantha herself, even the lamest tattoo card would be considered impressive in a real tattoo parlor.
If you are looking for a great game to play at this weekend’s party or just kick back with a few friends, No Regerts is the perfect game for you. While No Regerts has been in development for some time now, they are just about finished. If you are interested in learning more about No Regerts, or are looking to purchase your own copy of the game, check out their KickStarter page for more info. I have heard rumors of a possible NSFW expansion in the making.
