If you’ve missed it in the last few days, news popped that things may not be all hunky dory on the set of Fast 8. The news spread after the film’s star, The Rock, posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account about how he was not happy with some of his male co-stars on the set.
“My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right.
Bottom line is it’ll play great for the movie and fits this Hobbs character that’s embedded in my DNA extremely well. The producer in me is happy about this part. Final week on FAST 8 and I will finish strong.”
While The Rock doesn’t come right out and address who he’s speaking of, there are many rumors that suggest that it is none other than tent pole series star Vin Diesel. Rumors claim that the two action stars have been at odds for a while now, dating as far back as Fast 7. TMZ reported yesterday there was an emergency meeting between the two and the producers to qualm over any tension.
Today, The Rock posted another photo on Instagram addressing what he had talked about on the previous day.
“You guys reading this know how much I believe in the idea of TEAM EFFORT. That means respecting every person, their time and their value when they step on to my set or partner with our production company. And like with any team – that’s a family – there’s gonna be conflict. Family is gonna have differences of opinion and fundamental core beliefs. To me, conflict can be a good thing, when its followed by great resolution. I was raised on healthy conflict and welcome it. And like any family, we get better from it.”
While The Rock never fully addresses who he is talking about, I do find it interesting that in his first initial post, he does mention the phrase “the producer in me,” which seems odd given the fact that while The Rock has been a producer before on projects, like his hit show Ballers and even many of his films, he is not a producer on Fast 8. Vin Diesel is.
According to reports, there was a “great resolution” that was found after their meeting. I can’t wait for them to begin their press tour, because there is no way that they will be able to ignore this during their promotion of the movie.
