Director Andrew Adamson will be doing a lot of monkeying around for his next feature film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director, known for his work on Shrek and The Chronicles of Narnia, is in negotiations to direct and co-write a new live-action Curious George film from Universal and Imagine Entertainment.
The project will be an adaptation of the classic book series by Hans Augusto Rey and Margret Rey that first began publishing in 1941. The character and books have been translated into television series, several shorts and films, including the 2006 animated movie that featured the voices of Will Ferrell and Drew Barrymore.
Ron Howard and Brian Grazer will produce the film along with David Kirschner, Jon Shapiro and Imagine’s Erica Huggins.
The last movie Adamson directed was 2012’s Cirque de Soleil: Worlds Away. There’s no news yet on whether his new film will make you go bananas.
