No Man’s Sky has found itself embedded within the current gaming zeitgeist for some time now, for reasons both positive and negative, and we’re finally getting close to the final stop on this crazy hype train’s journey. If you’ve somehow managed to avoid all contact with the game, No Man’s Sky is being developed by Hello Games for PlayStation 4 and PC and sees players exploring a vast galaxy in a part walking sim/part Minecraft/part Star Citizen survival affair.
The development of the title has been plagued by many issues throughout the last two years. From floods to having no internet, to community issues on the internet. But regardless of where you sit on the broad spectrum of pre-release No Man’s Sky opinions, the world will know for sure soon enough what the game turns out like. Which leaves you wondering what the gaming community is going to have to seriously complain about next in order to quiet the voices in their heads.
And ahead of the game’s official launch on August 9th for PlayStation 4, Hello Games has heaped a spoonful of last-minute information into our waiting hands. Hello Game’s Harry Denholm, a programmer working on No Man’s Sky, has taken to Twitter to say that the game’s online servers will be wiped clean ahead of its launch.
Now, there’s no need for panic – this doesn’t mean that players will lose any saved game data. What Denholm’s Twitter update meant was that the game’s “Discovery Data” is getting reset. So all players at launch will be able to explore the galaxy of No Man’s Sky from an equal starting point. Again, saved games will remain intact.
This comes alongside news that the game will be delayed slightly on PC. Sean Murray also took to Twitter to state that the PC version of the game will be released after the PlayStation 4 version, and will be available from August 12th.
If you’re excited about the release of No Man’s Sky, and just can’t wait for more on the game, then you can listen to a stream of the entire game’s soundtrack via The Independent right here. That should tide you over.
