Final Fantasy XV has been in development for 10 years now and it looks fans of the former Final Fantasy Versus XIII will have to wait just for a little bit longer. While Square Enix originally revealed a September 30, 2016, release date, the game has been delayed by two months with a new release date of November 29th, according to various sources from both Kotaku and Gamnesia. The reason is to give the development team more time to optimize and polish the highly anticipated game.
Gamenesia originally broke the news, sourcing in GameStop management. Kotaku later confirmed these reports which include a photo of the Final Fantasy XV signage that should be appearing in stores shortly, along with instructions to apply a sticker with the new release date.
As a fan who has been looking forward to this game since it was first announced, it’s a bit disappointing but at the same time, I rather the game be released complete rather than an incomplete game that needs to be patched over and over. We have waited 10 years, and two more months won’t kill us. At least we have Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV to tide us over for a while.
