Laika and Focus Features’ Kubo and the Two Strings is coming to theaters this weekend (August 19th) and follows a boy in Japan with a talent for telling magical stories. When I say magical, I really do mean magical. With the use of origami and a musical instrument, Kubo is able to make his stories come to life. When a tragic event occurs, it’s up to him to set things right by searching for the weapon and armor belonging to his samurai father.
I highly recommend this stop-motion animated flick for fans of animation and those wanting a tale filled with humor, action and heart. (You can check out our video review below.)
This is a truly beautiful movie that makes use of vibrant colors, and it’s the first stop-motion animated film presented in Dolby Cinema. If you’re near an AMC Theatre with Dolby Cinema, please check that one out because the visuals and audio will blow you away.
Dolby has released a behind-the-scenes featurette showing what moviegoers can experience.
And here’s our video review below.
