If you weren’t aware, the Pokémon World Championships was held last weekend in San Francisco, California. While I was only able to attend for a few hours, it was a fun experience since it’s the first Pokémon Worlds I’ve ever attended. The event brought together the best players in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, as well as video games including Vs. Battles in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and Pokkén Tournament.
Not too long ago I was fortunate enough to receive the latest Pokémon Elite Trainer Box and the Shaymin Mythical Pokémon Collection which I opened and was able to get some great cards to add to my collection. Right before I left for San Francisco, I had the chance to open a few more of the Mythical Pokémon Collections as well as a few packs of the latest Steam Siege packs. Also inside were two of the latest Pokémon theme decks which is a great way to add some very useful trainer and item cards to your decks with plenty of energy cards for new players.
As much as I enjoy building new decks and playtesting them with friends, the sensation of opening packs and seeing if you pull a full-art or even an Ultra rare card is always a fun rush. Generations is a great set with plenty of useful cards, as I mentioned in my previous post, I am a huge Eevee fan so pulling a few more for collection, fun deck builds or even trading is always great and the Mythical Collection sets are perfect for it especially with the additional pin and exclusive card coming with it.
The themed decks are nice. For players buying boxes of new sets, it is a great way to go to get almost everything you need, but these can be worth it for the few cards you may need for a deck. Overall it’s always great to take a chance and see what you get.
