Retro City Rampage DX launches on Switch today (official PR)

RCR:DX takes the open world crime genre and re-envisions it in 8-BIT, fusing the old with the new. Jump on civilians for coins while stealing cars and outrunning the law; complete story missions, play arcade challenges, or just explore the world. It's not just a run-n-gun though, many missions require strategy -- so choose the right weapons, jump, stomp, and dodge... and if you need an extra hand, grab a power-up!

Retro Legacy

RCR:DX sets itself apart from most retro styled games with its technical design towards authenticity. This latest launch follows the previous MS-DOS port (which fits on a single 1.44 MB floppy disk, including its installer!), the PSP version (released last year, bringing the PlayStation release to 4X Cross Buy), and of course, the NES and Windows 3.1 prototypes.

A Welcome Home

I'm incredibly grateful and excited to have the opportunity to support the Nintendo Switch. RCR:DX found an incredible home on the Nintendo 3DS, and the Switch makes its handheld experience even better. Nintendo 3DS quickly became one of RCR's bestselling platforms, garnering a fan base of all ages -- from those who grew up with 8-BIT and 16-BIT games to those who grew up with the PS2 and Xbox. It showed just how much gaming culture extends generations.

Custom Fit

RCR supports multiple control options, so choose the one which suits you best.

For driving, there's manual (classic tank controls), and automatic (up/down/left/right + brake button). You can switch between the two at any time via the pause menu.

For shooting, it supports both a single fire button with automatic lock-on, and twin stick controls. Advanced players will alternate between the two depending on the enemies and scenario.

Next Time, at Vblank...

Stay tuned for ‘Shakedown: Hawaii’. Coming to the Nintendo Switch later, Shakedown puts yet another spin on the open world genre -- Build a "legitimate" corporation via open world missions, property acquisition, shakedowns, sabotage, market manipulation and collateral "re-zoning". Its entire island is up for grabs... or at least, will be once you ruffle enough feathers.
