What started as a Kickstarter campaign is now seeing the light of day. Through The Woods, by Antagonist, is a 3rd-person horror game about a mother searching for her missing son. The game is a change from the standard 1st-person horror style game, giving you complete control of your surrounding as you venture through the woods (no pun intended).
The team at Antagonist was inspired by their visits to a forest as children and is set in Norway, where the team is from. You play as Karen who is being interrogated about her missing son. The story unfolds as she retells her story. The setting is heavily influenced by Norse mythology and Norwegian folk tales which develops a sense of dread instead of the usual ‘jump scare’ tactics. At night your only source of light is the moonlight and a flashlight. The trailer below shows a very narrow sense of direction.
The game is slated to be released in October 2016, just in time for Halloween.
