Steve Coogan calls out Bono in Sony’s Greed clip

Sony Pictures UK has released the first clip from director Michael Winterbottom’s upcoming satire film Greed, featuring Steve Coogan’s Richard McCreadie as he calls out other big name companies like Google and celebrities such as Bono, who he thinks deserved to be in trial for their tax avoidance instead of him. Also starring Isla Fisher and Asa Butterfield, the film currently has no U.S. release date yet but it is set to hit the theaters in the U.K. on February 21. Check out the video in the player below!

Greed tells the story of self-made British billionaire Sir Richard McCreadie, whose retail empire is in crisis. For 30 years he has ruled the world of retail fashion – bringing the high street to the catwalk and the catwalk to the high street – but after a damaging public inquiry, his image is tarnished. To save his reputation, he decides to bounce back with a highly publicized and extravagant party celebrating his 60th birthday on the Greek island of Mykonos. A satire on the grotesque inequality of wealth in the fashion industry, the film sees McCreadie’s rise and fall through the eyes of his biographer, Nick.

The film stars Oscar nominee Steve Coogan (Night at the Museum trilogy, Philomena) as Sir Richard McCreadie, Isla Fisher (Confessions of a Shopaholic) as Samantha McCreadie, David Mitchell (Peep Show) as Nick, Asa Butterfield (Sex Education) as Finn McCreadie, and Sophie Cookson (Kingsman: The Secret Service) as Lily McCreadie.

Greed is written and directed by Micheal Winterbottom (The Emperor’s New Clothes). It is produced by Melissa Parmenter from Revolution Films, re-teaming her and Winterbottom from Emperor’s, and The Iron Lady‘s Damian Jones of DJ Films.

The film had its world premiere last September at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival and its North American theatrical distribution is being handled by Sony Pictures Classics.
