The film, written and directed by Nathalie Biancheri (Nocturnal), will be set in a home of young people who believe they are all animals and not human beings. The project will see the characters struggle with the concept of identity, namely MacKay’s character, who thinks he is a wolf and despite the often humiliating treatment put upon him by a doctor, he can’t find a way to escape his personal truth.

Wolf is being produced by Jessie Fisk of Feline Films in Ireland and Bankside, who are launching sales for the project at the European Film Market.

MacKay made his debut on the big screen in 2003’s live-action adaptation of Peter Pan as one of the Lost Boys and has appeared in a number of acclaimed films including The Boys Are BackCaptain Fantastic and True History of the Kelly Gang, as well as small-screen projects including 11.22.63.

Depp, the daughter of the Pirates of the Caribbean star, made her film debut just over five years ago in Kevin Smith’s first installment of his True North horror trilogy Tusk, followed by leading the second installment Yoga Hosers alongside Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn. She went on to star in a number of French projects, including The Dancer and Planetarium, before co-starring in the well-received Netflix historical drama The King alongside Timothée Chalamet.
