The Terror: AMC developing ideas for a potential third season

After more than three months since the second season finale of The Terror: Infamy had aired in October, AMC has confirmed that they have started planning out for the potential third season of the historical-horror anthology series by developing various ideas that could be the basis of the new season. The network further revealed that they’ve already received concepts that were pitched by executive producer Ridley Scott’s production company Scott Free.

“I love the concept of historical and horror. Horror is such a brilliant metaphorical way to talk about being human and the jagged emotions we feel, it’s wonderful.” President of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios, Sarah Barnett said in a statement (via Deadline). “So, setting it in such a heightened and particular historical moment that has great stakes, such as internment camps or the northwest passage, is really interesting. I’m curious how we can [continue] that franchise and look at what works. We don’t just want to keep doing the same thing, what would a season three look like.”

The Terror: Infamy is a 10-episode season that is set during World War II, which centers on a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community, and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible. This season will star Derek Mio as Chester Nakayama, alongside Kiki Sukezane (Lost in Space), Cristina Rodlo (Miss Bala), Shingo Usami (Unbroken), Naoko Mori (Everest), Miki Ishikawa (9-1-1), and renowned actor, producer, author and activist George Takei (Star Trek) as a community elder and former fishing captain.

Season 2 was co-created and executive produced by Alexander Woo (True Blood) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull IslandGodzilla), from an idea by Borenstein. Woo, who is currently in an overall development deal with AMC, serves as showrunner.
