Henry Cavill has ‘not given up the role’ of Superman

According to Men’s Health, Man of Steel and Justice League star Henry Cavill has shared that the Superman cape is still his and that he has “not given up on the role.”

“There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet,” the actor continued. “A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”

Cavill also gave his take on the three DC films he suited up as Superman for, saying that Man of Steel was “a great starting point. If I were to go back, I don’t think I’d change anything,” and that Batman v Superman was “very much a Batman movie. And I think that realm of darkness is great for a Batman movie.” As far as Justice League, Cavill admitted the movie “didn’t work.”

Cavill reportedly parted ways with Warner Bros. in September 2018, though no one has officially replaced Cavill as Superman yet.

In the meantime, Cavill has been hard at work leading Netflix’s upcoming fantasy series adaptation The Witcher, which recently received an early Season 2 renewal. Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

Cavill’s upcoming projects also include the mystery drama Enola Holmes, where he will be portraying Sherlock Holmes.
