MyCharge has been a player in the battery bank game for a while, and now they are expanding into the flashlight game. Ok, maybe not, but the Power Lumens is a battery pack that also doubles as a flashlight that delivers a powerful light source.
The Power Lumens built like a small box similarly sized to an Amazon Firebox. One side has the light source which packs a punch, and the bottom half of the other side has the kickstand. On top, you can find two USB Type-A ports and a micro USB port in between for charging the battery pack. One side of the battery pack is a power button which turns on the light and also controls the brightness settings.
Usage
It’s as bright as 510 lumens, which is as bright as a 40-watt bulb. It can deliver up to 9 hours of continuous light when set at the brightest setting, around 15 hours on the second brightest, around 22 hours on the second darkest, and around 41 hours at the darkest setting. This was a great help when I was helping my brother-in-law under his truck and needed a light source. It really lit it up when it was set to the brightest setting. Also, you get two different shades of light, white and yellow tint. To change shading, you need to hold the power button for 3 seconds, and it will change from white to yellow or vice versa. And if you hold the power button for 5 seconds, you will trigger the SOS and strobe light mode for emergency situation.
Even after a couple of hours of light usage, the battery only decreased to 50%. And that is with me using the item without charging it out of the box. One big downside I did notice is the charging cable tips got a bit too hot while plugged into the battery pack, and that is the big concern of mine. I’ve tried two different cables, and both times they got too hot.
Final Reaction
This is a niche item since it’s a battery pack and doubles as a light source and not everyone needs their battery pack to be a light source as well. And I’m hoping future revisions of this product will also address the overheating of the charging cable tips. But other than that, if you’re looking for an item that can charge your battery and give you some light to work in, then look no farther than MyCharge Power Lumens.
