Black Desert Open Beta will last until August 13

PS4 Key Art Black Desert

Black Desert is an action MMORPG from South Korean developer Pearl Abyss, and the studio has been doing pretty good with over $1 billion in revenue and over 18 million players. It features a deep character creation and a large open world, and now PlayStation 4 players can play the Open Beta until tomorrow, August 13th. It’s free for everyone, and it’s available on the PlayStation Store.

To start the Open Beta download, search for the game on the PlayStation Store and click on the Standard Edition page. Scroll all the way down until you see the Open Beta access. In the Open Beta, you can wander the different lands of Serendia, Balenos, and Calpheon with the option of choosing between six character classes like Warrior, Sorceress, Ranger, Berserker, Wizard, and Witch.

We’ve been messing around with the character customization, and there are a lot of options. When I say there’s a lot, I really do mean it. There’s the usual of choosing all types of faces, hair, makeup, tattoos, and body type, but once you get past that, there’s even more to alter. For example, your character’s face will have different “muscle” groups like the chin, nose, eyes, brows, left inner lower lip, right inner lower lip, right outside lip, and etc. You can also customize your body type be sections. The torso can be wider or smaller, the waist can be bigger or smaller, and you can change the size of the arms, forearms, hand, breasts, and butt. One can easily spend hours in here.

The maximum level for your avatar is 50, and there are a few events still available to play. The Open Beta rewards players for playing, and they’ll get the exclusive Sky Hawk pet for the full game.

Black Desert will have different editions, with Standard ($29.99 USD), Deluxe ($49.99 USD) and Ultimate ($99.99 USD) Editions. Getting the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions will give players the chance to play 48 hours before everyone else. PlayStation Plus members will get a 10% discount on pre-order editions.

There’s still some time to play the Open Beta, so hurry while you still can. Black Desert will be launching on August 22, 2019, for the PlayStation 4.
