The VOID VR is one of the leading immersive virtual reality experiences available today. They have a few locations spread across the world and a few licensed titles that make them a premier destination for video game and VR enthusiasts. Earlier this week, the VOID announced a global partnership with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) that will bring more VOID locations to URW shopping centers.
The partnership between URW and the VOID will see the virtual reality destination expand to 25 different locations at URW flagship centers in the US and Europe. A few pop-ups at Westfield centers in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego will open this summer and will later become permanent locations. New permanent venues will roll out in the US and European cities, which include Paris, London, and Stockholm, with the full roll-out completing in 2022.
The four temporary pop-ups that will kick off the two companies partnership will be expected to open sometime in August or September. The pop-ups will start off with Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire and Ralph Breaks the VR. URW destinations that will be home to these pop-ups will include Westfield World Trade Center in New York, Westfield San Francisco Centre, Westfield Santa Anita, and Westfield UTC in San Diego. These centers will then open permanent locations in the subsequent months.
The VOID is a Utah-based venture with content deals that span entertainment studios, including Disney and Sony. It is recognized as the most immersive VR experience that is playable today and is a clear representation in the future of entertainment. The VOID’s titles include Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, which is an award-winning experience developed by ILMxLAB and Lucasfilm; Ralph Breaks VR, by ILMxLAB in collaboration with Walt Disney Animation Studios; Ghostbusters: Dimension, and its original content Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment. Several new experiences are also slated to be released.
“Over the past years, our industry has evolved dramatically. In a connected world, shopping is not enough anymore. Today, our customers expect to be entertained and brought together to share memorable, engaging sensory experiences. We are very happy to partner with The VOID in an industry-first, to bring cutting edge immersive experiences like these to our visitors.” said Christophe Cuvillier, Group CEO at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.
