2019’s San Diego Comic-Con included host Bruce Campbell introducing Travel Channel’s new show, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, which happens to be the 4th rendition of the show. Viewers saw the extraordinary as Ripley’s Believe It or Not! showed off how they have been entertaining people enthralled with the bizarre for over 100 years. The panel was hosted by Bruce Campbell and had extraordinary guests Angel “Cyborg” Giuffria, John “Hammerhead” Ferraro, Ripley’s Believe Ir or Not! editor and producer Sabrina Sieck, and “Half-man” Short E. Dangerously speaking about their experiences and the upcoming show.
Each panelist was able to showcase their unique abilities as Bruce introduced a clip of what they were capable of. The first to show off their skills was Half-man, and he walked on glass using only his hands. Next, Cyborg’s video showed her at 4 months old and how she received her bionic arm using the muscles in her residual limb to recognize her arm. It allowed her to have a functional arm and hand, and she even showcased a lightsaber attachment, which received cheers from the audience. Finally, Hammerhead showed what he can do using his head, calling himself a performing strong man and cranial freak.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not!’s Sabrina Sieck talked about how difficult it is to show off these unique people because of the internet and YouTube. She said they focus on the people’s unique stories, going a little more in-depth than what you would normally find on the internet. She then spoke about the first book from the 1920s that incited its fandom from around the world.
The audience was able to participate in a Q and A, asking the panelists questions about their personal experience, booking, upcoming new performances, and social media.
The newest edition of the annual Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Beyond the Bizarre book was first made available at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, before it officially hits stores. It features a look behind the scenes with Bruce Campbell on the set in the Ripley Warehouse.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! airs on Sundays on the Travel Channel at 9 p.m.
