The summer season is here, and while the way people spend their vacation will differ, Crunchyroll has made sure to help out the ones who just want to spend the next few weeks of their summer vacation binging on their favorite shows. The anime streaming giant has compiled a list of shows that they find will be the perfect companion for this summer break.
There’s no greater theme to a summer’s worth of binge-watching than Isekai animes. But what exactly is Isekai? Well for those who don’t know, Isekai is a genre of anime where the main character travels to a different world. It’s a world that they don’t know where things are unfamiliar. Now typically Isekai anime will always place their main character in a world that’s either filled with magic or fantasy, or even terror.
Crunchyroll has a huge library based around Isekai, but since summer vacation is just a few weeks long, they’ve compiled the ideal getaway list compiled of some of the best Isekai shows. Below are the top ten Isekai shows that you should start binging.
- Sword Art Online
- The Rising of the Shield Hero
- That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
- Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-
- Saga of Tanya the Evil
- KONOSUBA -God’s blessing on this wonderful world!
- Restaurant to Another World
- Overlord
- No Game No Life
- Log Horizon
As you can see, Crunchyroll has added some fantastic shows that are truly binge-worthy. A few of those titles that I would personally start with are Sword Art Online and Overlord. Both shows revolve around something that I enjoy, which is video games but are also both amazing stories about adventure. Each show listed on the getaway list are now available to stream on Crunchyroll, so you can get started on your summer binge right away.
If you’re still confused about Isekai Animes, Crunchyroll has made an insightful video essay that does a great job of explaining the genre. You can watch the video below.
