E3 2019: Xbox kicks off E3 with huge announcements

With E3 taking place this week in Los Angeles, the biggest names in video games will be revealing the future of gaming. Some will showcase their newest titles, while others will be showcasing the latest in innovative gaming. To kick off this week of gaming goodness, XBOX held their annual presentation at the Microsoft theater to share what they have in store for its millions of fans.

VIDEO GAMES

This year XBOX showcased a lineup of 60 anticipated games, both blockbuster, and smaller titles. In the next coming year, gamers can expect to play these games for both console and PC. Here are some of the titles that stood out for us.

BLEEDING EDGE

Video game developer Ninja Theory, who is known for games such as Devil May Cry, Heavenly Sword, and Hellblade, will be bringing a one of a kind, third-person combat game with competitive online team gaming. Bleeding Theory will be a 4 vs 4 team fighter game that will be a fast-paced combat game with a strategic system that will reward players in technique, timing, and teamwork. This cyberpunk themed melee game will allow players to select a fighter that will suit their individual playstyle.

ELDEN RING

Elden Ring is a fantasy-action RPG adventure that is being developed by FromSoftware and Bandai Namco. The game is set in a world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki(Creator of the Dark Souls series) and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin.

CROSSFIRE X

One of the most-played PC games in the world, Crossfire X, a free-to-play first-person shooter will be coming to console for the very first time on the Xbox One. Developed by Smilegate entertainment in Seoul, Korea, Xbox players can look forward to a single player campaign that was created in partnership with Remedy Entertainment, a battle royale mode, and a competitive multiplayer. Xbox Game Pass members can also look forward to unique content available to them once the game arrives in 2020.

FORZA HORIZON 4: LEGO SPEED CHAMPIONS EXPANSION

When Forza 4 was released, it introduced players to not only a more realistic driving experience but also a brand new adaptive weather system. But Forza has teamed up with Lego to bring Forza 4 Horizon: Lego speed champions, an expansion that will give players the chance to experience Forza in a LEGO-themed world. Players will be given the chance to complete LEGO brick challenges, and drive some of the Lego speed champion cars which include, McLaren Senna, Ferrari F40 Competizione, and the 1967 Mini Cooper S Rally. Forza 4 Lego Speed Champions will be available on both Xbox One and PC starting June 13th.

  • Wasteland 3

XBOX GAME PASS

Xbox announced that PC gamers can now take full advantage of the Xbox Game Pass. Through the Game Pass for PC beta through the new Xbox app, which is now available on Windows 10. Gamers can play any game from the curated library of over 100 pc games from 75 developers and publishers. Xbox also revealed the new Game Pass Ultimate, a new plan that combines the curated game library for consoles and PC, with Xbox Live Gold.

DOUBLE FINE PRODUCTIONS

At last years presentation, Xbox announced a slew of developers that will be joining Xbox Game Studios. This year they announced that developer Double Fine Productions will be joining Xbox’s network of game developers. Double Fine becomes the 15th developer to join Xbox Game Studios, and along with them is the new Psychonauts 2 that will launch worldwide in 2020.

PROJECT XCLOUD

Xbox has allowed millions of gamers to play whatever game they want, with whoever they want, whenever they want. But now Xbox wants to give gamers the ability to play wherever they want with the new Project XCloud. Starting in preview this coming October, gamers will be able to stream games from their own library and Game Pass titles from their Xbox One console directly to a mobile device.

PROJECT SCARLETT

The Xbox One S was a powerful console, and with gamers wanting a new level of immersion with their favorite games, Xbox announced their upcoming next-gen console dubbed Project Scarlett. No physical console was in appearance, but fans did get a brief summary of what will be included in the latest console. A custom designed AMD processor, high bandwidth GDDR6 memory, and a next-gen solid state drive. Project Scarlett is scheduled to hit retail stores during the holiday season of 2020, so we can expect to hear more details about it in the coming year.

During the week, fans will be able to watch a live stream of ED on Mixer. Inside Xbox: Live at E3 will be available to stream starting Monday, June 10 at 3 pm PST.
