Disney and director Guy Ritchie are making a live-action Aladdin, and it wouldn’t be complete without the memorable music from the classic ’90s animated film. Disney has been known to release new covers of its popular songs. For example, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey performed “A Whole New World” for the Aladdin Platinum Edition DVD. The upcoming Aladdin is no exception with Zayn and Zhavia Ward performing an updated version of the love song for the film’s end title.
Disney has released the official music video for its end title song, “A Whole New World.” Of course, this has some fans wondering why the filmmakers didn’t choose Zayn (One Direction) to star as Aladdin.
Check out the official music video below:
Fans have shown their support of wanting to see Zayn as Aladdin. It would be nice since he has a wonderful singing voice. However, filming is already completed with Mena Massoud having that honor of playing the charming street rat.

The song will be played during the end credits of the film. It’s produced by Saltwives aka Alex Oriet and David Phelan (ZAYN and Charli XCX). The music video was directed by Philip Andelman.
“The selection of artists, producer and tonal direction was critical for the success of updating a classic song like this,” said Mitchell Leib, president of Music & Soundtracks for the Walt Disney Studios. “ZAYN’s vocals are like no other and his artistic imprint immediately brought a contemporary and diverse presence. Additionally, ZAYN could have chosen any artist in the world to collaborate with on the duet, but he personally selected Zhavia for her unique perspective, powerful vocal abilities and to platform a talented new artist, ensuring that the audience could discover this song, again, for the first time.”
The song is composed by Alan Menken and written by Howard Ashman, which received an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award and Grammy Award.
The soundtrack for the live-action movie will be released on May 21 at 9 p.m. PT digitally with the physical album coming out on May 24, 2019. There will be a new song from Menken and songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land) titled “Speechless,” and it’s performed by Naomi Scott as Jasmine.
