Constance Wu rose to stardom when she starred in ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat. She later appeared as a female lead in the romantic comedy, Crazy Rich Asians, which became a huge hit for Warner Bros. Fresh Off the Boat is still a popular show, and ABC has renewed it for a sixth season. This sounds like great news for fans and the cast, yes? Apparently, it’s not, according to Wu.
After it was revealed that the show was renewed, Wu quickly made her dissatisfaction known.
“So upset right now that I’m literally crying. Ugh. Fuck,” she said in a tweet.
She followed that up with “F***ing hell.”
One Twitter use congratulated her for the show being renewed with “great news,” and she replied with, “No it’s not.”
The Fresh Off the Boat Instagram posted that it’s being renewed for a sixth season, and Wu commented with, “Dislike.”
Wait, what? How come Wu is unhappy about the news? Could it be that she wanted to focus on her movie career? Perhaps being in a show will prevent her from other opportunities? What we do know is that showrunner Nahnatchka Khan left the series to work with Universal Television. Maybe that’s part of the reason why she doesn’t want to continue on with the show.
Now with her showing her dislike and the show continuing on, will she try to leave the series?
Synopsis: Inspired by a true story, “Fresh Off the Boat” is set in the mid-90s and 12-year-old, hip-hop loving Eddie Huang (Hudson Yang) and his family are adjusting to their new lives in suburban Orlando.
