EDM fans, the day is finally here! Insomniac Events have finally released the lineup for the biggest EDM festival in North America, EDC Las Vegas. Across eight stages within the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Pasquale Rotella and Bill Nye (yes, the science guy) have delivered on the promise of this year’s theme of kineticENERGY. There are a lot of surprise additions and omissions but every artist below does fit in with this year’s theme. Check it out!
Although it’s sad to see EDC regulars like Afrojack and Zedd miss out on this year’s event, it’s amazing to see some new faces like David Guetta, Steve Aoki, and deadmau5 headline this year’s festival. It’s also awesome to see EDC regulars return like Tiësto, Alison Wonderland, Kaskade, Armin van Buuren, and Martin Garrix return to this year’s lineup.
Also, EDC Las Vegas is continuing its recent trend of adding hip-hop and R&B artists to the lineup. Two years ago, we saw the disastrous performance by DJ Khaled. Last year, saw Post Malone take the stage at cosmicMEADOW with much better results. This year’s hip-hop artist is rapper/producer A$AP Rocky. Also making his EDC debut will be Bill Nye the Science Guy. No, he’s not performing BUT he will kick the event off during the festival’s opening ceremony.
Yet the biggest surprise at this year’s event is seeing Idris Elba perform a back-to-back with Solardo. Of course, it’s not really that big of a surprise if you’ve been following his Twitter account. He consistently tweets about his gigs. Yet the biggest surprise that he’s finally performing at EDC. The Oscar-nominated actor is finally getting a chance to perform at the biggest EDM festival in North America.
We, of course, are ready to see what Elba, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, and the other performing DJs have in store for the headliners when EDC hits the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on May 17-19.
