Those Aren’t The Alps

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 18 Recap

Supergirl and Lena head to Stryker’s Island after receiving a tip that Lex didn’t just escape this once, but has been coming and going from prison as he pleases. Lena uses that information to convince the warden to let the two inspect Lex’s cell for any clues that might point them to where he is hiding and what he is doing. Lena recognizes the family chessboard and finds a note from Lex in one of the pieces, just like they used to do when they were younger. Further investigation reveals Lex’s journals hidden inside the board itself.

Otis arrives and releases the rest of the inmates, telling them over the prison’s intercom that the one who brings him Supergirl will be released. Supergirl locks Lena safely in Lex’s cell to go through the journals while Supergirl deasl with Otis. Lena gives Supergirl a shield against kryptonite, in case Otis is still sporting his Metallo build.

Supergirl makes her way through the prison and fights with Otis. During the conflict, her kryptonite shield is shattered, forcing Supergirl to flee. Dressed as Kara, she is able to give Otis the slip. Kara is ambushed by Steve, the inmate whose cell was next to Lex’s. Steve recognizes Kara because he runs the prison’s newspaper. He tells Kara that he can get her information on Lex that he wouldn’t give Supergirl. Before he can, the National Guard arrives and comes in after Kara.

Back in Lex’s cell, Lena uses the memories called up from Lex’s journals to find a secret door on the wall of Lex’s cell. Supergirl follows Lena inside, where they find Lex’s secret prison headquarters. While the two watch on the monitor, Lex directs Otis into his cell, where Lex overloads Otis’s suit, causing him to explode in burst of kryptonite as Supergirl flies Lena away.

Supergirl believes that Stan has a point. If she is the government’s target, then innocent people in her vicinity are likely to get hurt. It’s time for Supergirl to lay low for a while and let Kara use the information Steve stole from Lex’s computer to find a clue to stopping all of this.

Alex and Colonel Haley rebuff Lockwood’s order, telling him they need a presidential approval before they can give him anything. During the delay, Alex appeals to Haley’s morals over her sense of duty to her country. as a back up plan, Brainiac wrestles with the decision of whether or not to erase the alien registry from the DEO database. If he does, it could mean that Lockwood comes down harder on aliens. If he doesn’t, then Lockwood could use the registry to find and imprison or eliminate aliens.

Brainiac deletes the registry, but only after making and storing a copy of the registry in his own head first. When Lockwood returns, Haley complies with the Lockwood’s request, but instead of summoning Supergirl, Haley sends signal that it’s a trap. In response, Supergirl goes dark by turning off her monitoring equipment. Enraged, Lockwood confiscates the weapons and convinces the president to deputize the Children of Liberty.
