At this year’s CinemaCon, Warner Bros ended their presentation with the highly-anticipated It: Chapter Two. Here, host Aisha Tyler brought on-stage both versions of the Losers’ Club.
- Jessica Chastain and Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh
- Bill Hader and Finn Wolfhard as Richie Tozier
- Chosen Jacobs and Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon
- Jay Ryan and Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben Hanscom
- Andy Bean and Wyatt Oleff as Stanley Uris
- James Ransone and Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie Kaspbrak
- James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough
Sadly, the only cast member that wasn’t there was Jaeden Martell who plays the younger version of Bill. Then after some Q&A questions from Aisha Tyler, it was time to see what director Andy Muschietti has in store for us in It: Chapter Two.
The footage begins with a doorbell ring. An old woman opens the door and Jessica Chastain is on the other side. All of a sudden, you find out that she’s at her former home/apartment. She tells the old woman that she used to live here a long time ago. Fortunately for Beverly, the old woman tells her that her father passed away. Next, the old woman asks if she wanted to come inside for a drink. So Beverly goes inside and takes a tour of her former home. However, it seems as if she’s there for another reason. In other words, she searches high and low looking for something.
We don’t know what she’s looking for but she does find the postcard that Ben gave to her from the first film. This strikes some fond memories as she looks back at the few happy moments from her childhood. However, as she’s looking at the postcard, a shadowy figure is in the background looking at Beverly. Suddenly, the shadowy figure slithers away and we realize that Pennywise is actually the old woman.
The old woman puts on music as Beverly sits on the couch. As she’s sitting down, she notices a lot of flies on the window. At this instant, the old woman comments on how hot it is in the apartment and how it “feels like you can die” while here. “No dies here. No one really dies,” said the old woman as she creepily stares (and smiles) at Beverly. Once the woman regains her senses, Jessica Chastain sees a large scar on the woman’s chest.
DING. Without delay, the old woman tells her that there are cookies in the oven. Then as Beverly tries to leave, the old woman tells her that she should have some cookies. While in the kitchen, the old woman talks about how her father was in the circus. The next thing you know, Beverly sees a picture of Pennywise in “human” form. Suddenly, the old woman is naked and walking (like Pennywise) in a dark kitchen. Now, the kitchen is pitch dark. Then, all of a sudden, the naked old woman starts charging towards Beverly as she screams for her life.
Now, we get a montage of scenes. We see shots of the adult version of the Losers’ Club together. Next, Pennywise is seen in various shots messing with the Losers’ Club.
Unfortunately, that was the end of the footage. The footage didn’t show much of the rest of Losers’ Club interacting with each other or with Pennywise. For the most part, the footage does showcase the kind of scares that director Andy Muschietti has in store for us in the sequel.
It: Chapter Two scares its way into theaters on September 6th.
