Warner Bros has released a new trailer for Shazam! starring Zachary Levi as the titular hero. Like the previous trailer, it continues the fun adventures of what it’s like to be a superhero, especially when you’re a teenager who gets to transform into someone as dashing as Levi. As Shazam, Billy will test the limits of his superhero body including lightning powers, flying, and stopping a supervillain. To kickstart his transformation, he’ll need to shout out the name of “Shazam”, and in the trailer, Eminem’s “My Name Is” is featured. How fitting.
Synopsis: In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard (Djimon Hounsou). Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).
The film is directed by David F. Sandberg, who is known for directing horror films like Anabelle: Creation and Lights Out. Henry Gayden worked on the screenplay from a story by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke and based on the DC character created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. Joining Zachary Levi are Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Djimon Hounsou, Faithe Herman, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Marta Milans, and Cooper Andrews.
Shazam! flies into theaters on April 5, 2019.
