Netflix’s Disappearance of Madeleine McCann doc debuts tomorrow

Netflix in partnership with Pulse Films has released the official trailer for their newest true crime documentary series titled The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann, which centers on one of the world’s most famous missing child cases. The eight-part docu series will make its debut tomorrow, exclusively on the streaming service. Check out the video below!

The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann is about a long-running police investigation that started when 3 year-old British girl Madeleine McCann disappeared last May 3, 2007 while she was on a holiday vacation with her parents Kate and Gerry McCann in Portugal.

According to Variety, the documentary will feature new interviews from more than 40 people who are involved with the case. It also include dramatizations of events leading to Madeleine’s disappearance. However, it won’t have any statements or interviews by the McCann family due to their strong refusal to participate in the documentary.

“We did not see and still do not see how this program will help the search for Madeleine and, particularly given there is an active police investigation, could potentially hinder it,” the McCanns said in statement. “Consequently, our views and preferences are not reflected in the program.”

Investigative journalists Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan, whom co-wrote the 2015 book titled Looking For Madeleine, are expected to appear in the series. Policia Judiciaria’s investigating coordinator Gonçalo Amaral, U.K.’s former head of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre Jim Gamble and the McCanns’ former PR rep. Phil Hall are also participating along with former suspect Robert Murat.
