Captain Marvel has been a heated topic as of late, especially with angry fans adding negative comments on Rotten Tomatoes due to Brie Larson saying that there are too many white men at press events. This led to the aggregated review site removing the audience comments section until the film has been released. With all the negative publicity, the Marvel Studios movie has received a lot of positive reviews and is still on track of being a blockbuster with presales beating movies like Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Deadpool. Today, Fandango has revealed that Captain Marvel is the presales movie after Avengers: Infinity War.
Fandango is a ticketing company that also serves as a digital network for movie lovers. It has reported that “Captain Marvel is currently the biggest advance ticket seller since Captain America: Infinity War at the same point in the sales cycle.” That’s pretty impressive since Avengers: Infinity War is a huge movie that made over $2 billion.
“There’s a reason ‘Captain Marvel’ is Fandango’s fastest preseller since ‘Infinity War’: fans can’t wait to experience the nostalgic ‘90s vibe of the film and to see Brie Larson as one of the most powerful and relatable superheroes we’ve seen on the big screen,” says Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “With ‘Endgame’ approaching, fans are also rushing to the multiplex to find out how ‘Marvel’ fits into the ‘Avengers’ storyline, plus they can’t wait to see Goose, the scene-stealing cat.”
Over 1,000 moviegoers did a survey for Fandango about Captain Marvel. Here are the results:
- 98% are looking forward to seeing how “Captain Marvel” connects to the ongoing “Avengers” storyline
- 92% are looking forward to the movie’s ‘90s setting.
- 81% are excited about seeing “Captain Marvel” because they hope it will provide more answers to “Infinity War” before seeing “Endgame.”
- 75% are looking forward to seeing the “de-aging” process used on Samuel L. Jackson to portray a younger Nick Fury and on Clark Gregg as rookie Agent Coulson.
Synopsis: The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and written by Boden, Fleck, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Jac Schaeffer from a story by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Joe Shrapnel, and Anna Waterhouse. It stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Lee Pace as Ronin, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Algenis Perez Soto as Att-Lass, Rune Temte as Bron-Char, McKenna Grace as young Carol Danvers, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson and Jude Law as the Starforce Commander.
Captain Marvel flies into theaters on March 8, 2019.
